A Casper man accused of shoplifting of food and a DVD from a local supermarket and assaulting a police officer was tased before being arrested.

Police arrested 33 year old Michael Webster, after he allegedly left a supermarket, while drunk, with food and a DVD, without paying for them.

During the arrest, police paperwork says that Webster became physically resistive and began to fight with officers, allegedly striking one officer in the face several times. Webster was then tased by officers, subdued and taken into custody. While officers gathered evidence at the scene, Webster is also alleged to have spat on an officer.

Webster is suspected of taking imitation Crab Meat as well as a DVD copy of the Robert Duvall, Bill Murray film Get Low, among other items. Police say Webster admitted to taking the items, but denied ownership of a blue raspberry Ring Pop candy found at the scene.

Webster faces charges of assaulting a police officer and interference and will have a preliminary hearing at a later date.
