Person Injured in Shooting During Pursuit on I-25 in Casper
A person is being treated at the Wyoming Medical Center after a pursuit and a shooting involving a pickup on Interstate 25 just south of the Poplar Street exit on Monday night, law enforcement says.
Meanwhile, the Casper Police Department reports northbound I-25 traffic has been redirected onto Yellowstone and F Street to the northbound on ramp for the highway north on Poplar Street.
The northbound ramps on Wyoming Boulevard, Beverly, McKinley, and Center streets will be closed until the investigation is complete.
The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation is working the scene, agent Ryan Cox told K2 Radio News at the scene late Monday.
The pursuit began after the white four-door Dodge pickup was reported stolen, Cox said.
The pickup crashed into the median about 100 yards at the north end of the bridge, which is south of the exit.
No further information about the person who was shot was immediately available. Cox said his agency is investigating whether the person's injuries were self-inflicted or the result of an officer-involved shooting.
Officers from the Casper and Evansville police departments, the Natrona County Sheriff's Office and the Wyoming Highway Patrol also were on the scene.
