The Wyoming Cavalry and the Indoor Football League are pleased to announce that Ryan Lingenfelder has been hired as the new head coach for the Cavs. After 15 seasons of coaching, the 2013 season will be his first as a head coach.

'Coach L,' as he has been known to be called, grew up in Lake Havasu City, AZ and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Athletic Coaching. He played professionally in the AFL for the Arizona Rattlers and the Portland Forest Dragons before falling victim to a career-ending knee injury.

Coach L started his coaching career as the Offensive Coordinator for Cortex High School in Glendale Arizona in 2002. He then took a position as the Offensive Coordinator for Phoenix Junior College.

Lingenfelder coached a few more teams before going on to coach the Tri-Cities Fever in 2009 and worked as the coach in charge of FB's, LB's and the O-and-D-lines. He was then promoted to Defensive Coordinator in 2010, and went on to play a key role in leading the Fever to back-to-back conference titles.

Lingenfelder was offered the position of head coach for the Cavs after it was announced that former coach, Coach Maciejczak would be taking a sabbatical.

“I am excited for the opportunity to be the Head Coach of the Wyoming Cavalry, and I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead,” stated Coach Lingenfelder. “There are many talented coaches in the IFL and I am humbled to go up against them on the field. Also, I have heard so many positive things about the fan and sponsor support in Wyoming, and the Tri Cities’ owners speak very highly about the Wyoming Cavalry organization. I am eager to get out and meet everyone.”

As for his plans for the Cavs, Coach L states that he" want[s] the people of Wyoming to know that I am deeply committed to the Wyoming Cavalry, and I will do my very best to recruit the best men for our team. I will recruit men with a strong work ethic and strong character.”
