The Natrona County Sheriff's Office has found the man who offered to give a student a ride on Cole Creek Road on Friday acted innocently, and no crime occurred, Sgt. Aaron Shatto said Wednesday.
On Friday, a female student told a bus driver and her family that a man in a silver Pontiac drove to her while she was walking on the road east of Casper and asked her if she wanted a ride home,
The girl declined.
She later told her family and the Natrona County School District about the incident. Family members and district personnel notified law enforcement.
The student and the sheriff's office were able to identify the man.
He told sheriff's investigators he grew up in a small rural community and had moved to Natrona County only recently.
He had no ill intentions and was only trying be polite by offering the student a ride home, he said.
While this incident ended peacefully, the Sheriff's Office and the school district still want to remind parents and students about possible dangerous and difficult situations if they are approached by a stranger.
If such a situation occurs, contact local law enforcement.
