CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The University of Wyoming is hoping to secure a grant to help improve programs at the College of Education.

The Board of Trustees has applied for a grant from the nonprofit organization The Daniels Fund. UW was awarded a $500,000 Daniels Fund grant in June to launch an education initiative, but the secondary grant would allow for more in-depth work.

The Daniel Fund will consider UW's application Monday.

The UW initiative is a five-year program designed to overhaul the education program to better prepare students to teach in K-12 schools. Work on the overhaul will include studying the college's 10 selected programs and visiting other universities to determine what works and what doesn't.
