It was a demonstration that went wrong Tuesday.

As part of Natrona County School District’s “Spring Test Fest” the Wyoming Highway Patrol brought their DUI simulation gear to Natrona County High School.

This involves a pair of goggles, jocularly referred to as “drunk goggles.” They simulate the impaired vision and depth perception you have when you’ve had too much to drink.

Students wear the goggles and try to catch a ball, or drive a golf cart on a prescribed course. As one student posed for pictures in the cart, with the Pistol Pete mascot next to him, he began driving the course, veered out of the lane and struck two female students standing nearby.

Sergeant David Wagener of the Highway Patrol says the girls were taken to Wyoming Medical Center. Their injuries are unknown, but not believed to be serious.
