Two Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide in Northwest Wyoming
The Park County Sheriff's Office is investigating a murder-suicide that reportedly took place in Powell early Monday.
The two victims have been identified as 64-year-old Mary Ann Bier, who was found with a gunshot wound to the back of her head, and 74-year-old John Charles Bright, who had a gunshot wound to his right temple.
According to a press release, dispatch received a call at 4:30 a.m. Monday reporting an unknown emergency at 818 Jonathon Road in Powell. An ambulance from Powell Valley Hospital was immediately dispatched.
Deputies arrived and found both victims. Both Bier and Bright were taken to Powell Valley Hospital, where they died of their wounds.
A suicide note was found at the scene.
Further investigation revealed the victims were not married, but were involved in a long-time, live-in relationship. Recently, authorities say, the relationship had soured when Bright discovered that Bier intended to leave him.
He reportedly became despondent and shot her before turning the gun on himself.
The bodies have been turned over to the Park County Coroner. No further details have been released.
