Swift Water River Rescue exercises on the North Platte Tuesday in Casper focused on boat operations.

Fire crews from the city, the county, along with members of the Natrona County Sheriffs Department participated. Experts on swift water rescue from Montana led the training.

"Looking at the river, learning the river, finding hazards, pre-planning the river so that if some one is in need of rescue we're more prepared." That's how Casper Fire-EMS Captain, Jared Lavin explains the operations.

Lavin says, as first responders they've already been tracking daily river flows and now with greater awareness of river hazards they can navigate the waters smoothly should an emergency arise. Tuesday was the last day for the swift water rescue exercises.
