Sheriff’s Office Investigates Report Of Stranger Offering Ride To Students
The Natrona County Sheriff's Office is investigating an allegation about a man who approached a student or students on Cole Creek Road and offered them a ride to school on Friday, Sgt. Aaron Shatto said Tuesday.
The suspect, described as a white male, was driving a silver Pontiac passenger car, Shatto said.
Natrona County School District spokesman Kelly Eastes said a parent or grandparent of the student or students -- the Sheriff's Office report did not identify the number of students -- to a bus driver.
The bus driver contacted the district's bus garage, and someone there called 911, Eastes said.
The parent or grandparents also contacted law enforcement, he said.
The district's director of student support services is working with the Sheriff's Office, Eastes said.
The district's Community Partners office also issued a news release urging parents and guardians to remind students not to accept rides from unknown individuals or approach unknown vehicles or persons.
Students should report anything suspicious to their bus driver, school personnel, parent, guardian, or local law enforcement agency.
