Rocky Mountain Power expects electric power in areas of Casper to be restored by 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, a company spokeswoman said.

Wind slapping wires together caused the outage affecting 2,695 customers mostly in the area of Casper College, according to Tiffany Erickson and the map on the company's website.

"Those gusts of wind can do some damage to the system," Erickson said.

K2 Radio also has received reports of the power being out on Casper Mountain.

Erickson said the outage affected a substation, and all customers using that substation are affected even if the customers are not in the same area.

Crews are on scene and working to repair the downed lines, and they hope to have the power restored by 11:30 p.m., she said.
