Natrona County Sheriff’s Office to Return Stolen Memorial Vases
The Natrona County Sheriff's Office has announced plans to return memorial vases, which were stolen from area gravesites, to the victims of the crimes.
Sgt. Aaron Shatto says victims who are not already on the list to receive a portion of the court-ordered restitution will be able to reclaim their vases from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15 and Saturday, Dec. 16 at Memorial Gardens.
Victims should bring photo identification. Any victims who have not already contacted the Sheriff's Officer regarding the theft of a memorial vase should do so immediately.
Vases that are not reclaimed this weekend will be distributed to victims who are set to receive restitution. Should that take place, those victims would receive the vases instead of restitution.
Janna L. Szynskie, 51, admitted to stealing the vases and selling them as scrap earlier this year. She was sentenced to a seven- to 10-year prison term last month.
Assistant District Attorney said previously that 374 victims have been identified, and 471 vases were stolen.
District Judge Catherine Wilking ordered Szynskie to pay $40,500 in restitution.
