If you’re driving this upcoming holiday weekend, you’ll likely see more law enforcement officers on patrol.  A number of law enforcement agencies are preparing for the 3rd annual Combined Accident Reduction Traffic, or “CARTE” operation.

Officers from the Casper and Mills Police Departments, along with deputies from the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office and Wyoming Highway Patrol Troopers will be enforcing traffic laws from the city limits to Alcova/Pathfinder.  Natrona County Sheriff Mark Benton has deputized the Casper and Mills Police officers so that they can enforce laws outside their respective city limits.

The enforcement effort is designed to reduce the number of impaired drivers on the road, and to make sure everyone is complying with seat belt laws.

In addition, the Wyoming Highway Patrol is conducting a “Click it or Ticket” operation, looking for compliance with seat-belt and child safety restraint laws.
