Casper Fire-EMS units and personnel put out a house fire today, according to a news release.

The fire department received the call at 12:30 p.m. for the structure fire in the 2800 block of East 12th St.,

The first units to arrive saw heavy smoke some from the front door. After entering the house, they found significant fire in the kitchen.

They quickly extinguished the blaze, searched the house, and cleared it of any occupants.

There was one female occupant who got out before the fire crews arrived, and she was taken by an Evansville ambulance to the Wyoming Medical Center for treatment of some asthmatic issues unrelated to the fire.

No other injuries were reported.

Crews remained at the scene for a couple of hour for salvage and overhaul operations.

The fire appeared to have started on top of the stove by some unattended cooking materials.

Damage was limited only to the kitchen area, but the occupant of the home will be displaced for a short time.

Casper Fire-EMS was assisted by Casper Police and the Evansville ambulance crew.
