Event To Honor Casper Police Officers Carlson and Garrett
The Casper Police Department will be honoring the two Casper police officers involved in a shootout in May. The "Honoring Our Heroes" event is scheduled for Monday, July 30th, at David Street Station.
Officer Jacob Carlson was gravely wounded during the May 6th incident and spent more than a month in the hospital. Officials say Carlson had been assisting officer Randi Garrett with a call about a problem vehicle at Fairdale Park when Carlson was shot by David Wolosin, who was killed in the exchange of gunfire.
According to a post on the CPD Facebook page, Police Chief Keith McPheeters and others will recognize Officers Carlson, Garrett and others from the Casper Police Department. The event starts at 6:00 p.m. with music from the Barrel House Band, food trucks, and yard games. Chief McPheeters will conduct a special ceremony honoring Officers Carlson and Garrett at 7:00 p.m. The public is invited.
