The shooting happened on May 6, 2018, during a confrontation when officers Jacob Carlson and Randi Garrett were called to a vacant lot near Fairdale Park.

A joint investigation by the Natrona County District Attorney's Office and Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation cleared the officers of wrongdoing.

He is seeking $500,000 in damages for his family members but not himself.

Officer Jacob Carlson spent about a month in the Wyoming Medical Center.

With a host of inspiring speakers and honorees, the event raised more than $620.000 for area youth programs.

For their actions in a shooting incident earlier this year, two Casper Police officers were not only honored by the Central Wyoming community, but they were given some of the highest honors they could receive.

The two were involved in a shootout in May, and Carlson was gravely wounded in the incident.
