An early morning house fire in Casper remains under investigation. Casper Fire-EMS says they were called out about 12:30 Wednesday morning to a fire in the 200 block of East H Street. When they arrived on scene, firefighters found a single-family residence with smoke in the attic. They found and put out a small fire that was contained to the attic space.

Officials say the occupants of the house got out before the firefighters arrived, and no injuries were reported. At this time, they don't know whether or not smoke detectors alerted them to the fire.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation. At last report, a Casper Fire-EMS Inspector was still on scene to determine the exact cause, although they suspect an electrical malfunction.

Most of the damage was limited to the attic and electrical system, though the living areas suffered some light smoke damage. Fire officials say the occupants won't likely be able to return to the home until repairs can be made.

Casper Fire-EMS says they would like to remind people that smoke detectors save lives:

"Each level of a home should have a minimum of one working smoke detector.  Test and replace batteries on a regular basis to assure proper working order.  If you are unable to afford to install smoke detectors, please call Casper Fire-EMS and we can assist.  Call during normal business hours at 235-8222."
