A Casper woman is accused of driving under the influence with a child in her vehicle early Monday morning.

Alicia N. Gray, 33, was booked into jail on recommended charges of DWUI-child endangerment, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and interference — all misdemeanors.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, at 12:46 a.m. Monday, a Casper Police officer observed Gray traveling westbound on East Second Street in a silver Dodge SUV with a burned-out driver's side headlight.

The officer then attempted a traffic stop on Gray's vehicle, but Gray continued onto Nebraska Street before pulling into the driveway of a home in the 200 block of Nebraska.

When asked why she didn't stop, Gray allegedly told the officer her brakes did not work and that the road was icy.

During the stop, the officer detected alcohol on Gray's breath and person. Gray advised that she had two beers and one shot. She reportedly told the officer she was picking up a friend from a bar and added that she was the least intoxicated.

The officer also observed a small child in Gray's vehicle. Gray said she was on her way home from picking up the child from a babysitter.

Court documents allege that Gray failed field sobriety tests.

When the officer told Gray she was under arrest, she allegedly responded by saying, "No," and resisted being handcuffed. The officer was able to control Gray and arrest her.

The child was taken into protective custody and the Department of Family Services was notified.

A records check conducted by the officer indicated Gray was convicted of DUI in 2006.

Gray is expected to appear in Natrona County Circuit Court at 2 p.m. Monday.
