Sergeant Scott Jones of the Casper Police Department reported that the first day of school was a busy one for writing citations and making arrests while enforcing school zones across Casper. The Casper Police Department Traffic Unit, enhanced with 6 additional officers on the streets, made a number of stops and found a variety of infractions including having to write 54 Citations for speeding in a school zone and 18 Citations for no seatbelt. 3 Citations were written for passing a school bus with flashers activated as well as 19 Citations for no insurance and/or registration. 2 Arrests were made for driving under suspension and 3 warrant arrests were executed. One driver from Florida was stopped two separate times by the same officer for speeding in the same school zone.

Enhanced enforcement of the area school zones will continue.
