Casper police arrested a California woman for prostitution after she allegedly told an undercover officer she was willing to perform sexual favors in exchange for $240.
Lea S. Stephens, 28, is facing recommended charges of prostitution and possession of marijuana.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, an undercover officer contacted Stephens via the internet to meet at an unnamed location within in Casper.
Officers contacted a female who went by the name "Stella" on the phone.
The undercover officer booked a room at a Casper hotel Monday night and texted "Stella," who allegedly said she was willing to stay for an hour at a rate of $240.
At roughly 11 p.m., the officer saw Stephens waiting outside a side door at the hotel. When an officer called out, "Stella," Stephens saw the officer and immediately stopped. She was quickly handcuffed.
When officers spoke with Stephens, she allegedly said she was embarrassed about the situation and that she'd driven herself from Colorado. After visiting Casper, Stephens said she planned to visit friends and family in Rock Springs.
