Casper Man Convicted of Sexually Assaulting 80-Year-Old Woman
A Casper man was convicted of third-degree sexual assault Friday, though he did not explicitly admit to the allegations.
Antonio Dee Trujillo entered an Alford plea to a third-degree sexual assault charge, meaning he acknowledges that prosecutors likely have enough evidence for a conviction if the case went to trial, though he does not explicitly admit guilt.
He will be sentenced at a later time. As a part of a plea agreement, prosecutors will ask for no more than 15 years.
According to court documents, Casper police were called to Wyoming Medical Center on Jan. 20 after receiving a report that an 80-year-old woman was sexually assaulted.
Trujillo was supposed to be watching over the woman who had dementia and could not care for herself.
A woman who lived with the victim told police that Trujillo had been alone with the victim from 5 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. the day of the assault.
The woman returned home to find the victim wearing only an adult diaper. Trujillo was passed out drunk on a couch, the affidavit says.
The victim's genitals and Trujillo both smelled strongly of baby oil, according to court documents.
During the investigation, a detective asked Trujillo if he thought he made a mistake.
"Obviously I did, but I don't remember it," Trujillo told the detective, according to the affidavit.
Trujillo was initially charged with first-degree sexual assault, third-degree sexual assault and abuse of a vulnerable adult. However, the first-degree sexual assault and abuse of a vulnerable adult charges were dropped as part of the plea agreement.
He remains free on bond.
