Casper Man Arrested for Burglarizing Vehicles, Taking Gun
A Casper man has been arrested on multiple felony charges after he allegedly admitted to police that he and a juvenile burglarized multiple vehicles in Casper, taking two handguns.
Kooper Cavender, 19, was booked into jail on two recommended charges of aggravated burglary.
According to charging papers, Casper police in late June received numerous reports of auto burglaries. In two of those incidents -- on June 26 and June 30, respectively -- a 9mm pistol and a .38-caliber revolver were reported stolen.
On the morning of July 5, an officer responded to a residence in the 2600 block of Lynn Lane after the landlord found handguns under the porch. Police recovered the two guns, which matched the descriptions of the guns taken in the two burglaries the week prior.
Cavender and his mother both lived at the home. A detective arrived to speak with them.
Cavender allegedly told the detective that he and a 13-year-old juvenile burglarized multiple vehicles. Cavender said that he took one of the guns, while the 13-year-old took another.
According to the affidavit, Cavender went to the Casper Police Department and made a detailed statement. He was arrested and booked into jail.
