Casper Man Arrested After Shooting Incident
A Casper man was arrested early Thursday following a 2 a.m. shooting incident.
Eugene Antwain Banks is charged with aggravated assault and battery, reckless endangering and felon in possession of a firearm.
According to court documents, Banks and a friend were drinking at a bar before the friend started to give Banks a ride home. At some point during the trip, Banks asked his friend to take him by his girlfriend's house. The friend was reluctant, but Banks allegedly held a gun to his friend's head.
When they pulled in front of the residence, Banks began yelling obscenities out the car's window. He then pulled out a firearm and began shooting into the air. Out of fear, the driver sped away before police lights filled the vehicle.
As the driver was stopping the vehicle, Banks threw the gun into his friend's lap before the friend tossed it back. Banks then threw it to the floor before exiting the vehicle.
During the course of interviews, police learned that the person living next to Banks' girlfriend was the target of Banks' rage. Earlier in the afternoon, Banks arrived at his girlfriend's neighbor's apartment and threatened violence. The neighbor told police he feared for his life.
Banks allegedly told police that he had been taking methamphetamine. Banks said the driver of the vehicle had no idea that he was going to fire a weapon. Banks allegedly told police he pulled out a firearm and fired four rounds into the air before the driver sped off.
He is expected to appear in Natrona County Circuit Court 2 p.m. Thursday.
