Casper Fire-EMS Puts Out House Fire On Sunday

No injuries were reported after a house fire on North Sun Drive on Sunday afternoon, according to a news release from the Casper Fire-EMS Department.

Casper Fire-EMS responded about 2:15 p.m. to the fire and saw smoke and flames coming from the side of the single family residence in the 200 block of the street, according to the news release from department spokesman Patrick McJunkin.

Firefighters entered, found the fire in a living area and extinguished it. No occupants were found in the house nor in nearby areas.

The occupant of the residence was not at home at the time.

Damage included fire, smoke and heat to the living area where the fire started, as well as smoke damage throughout the main floor. Cost of the damage remains unknown.

Casper Fire-EMS investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire. Details will be released as they become known.

Eighteen pesonnel initially responded to the fire. Casper Fire-EMS was assisted by Casper police, the Wyoming Medical Center, Natrona County Health Firefighter Rehab, and solid waste personnel from the balefill.

Casper Fire-EMS reminds residents that smoke detectors save lives. It recommends homeowners install and maintain a minimum of one smoke detector per floor, especially near sleeping areas.
