Casper City Council has an opening on the city's west side since the resignation of a councilmember last month, and is looking for candidates to fill that position, according to a news release from the city manager's office.

The vacancy occurred when Councilmember Todd Murphy resigned April 5.

Ward II is generally located between South Poplar Street on the east and River West on the west.

Anyone interested in serving on the council is asked to submit an application and resume to the City Manager’s Office, 200 N. David St., Casper WY 82601, no later than 5 p.m., Monday, May 15.

To qualify, you must be a registered voter in Natrona County and a resident of Ward II since at least May 1, 2016.

The term of this vacancy will start after public interviews in late May, and end Dec. 31, 2018. This Council position will be eligible for re-election in the general election of November 2018

To get an idea about what councilmembers will ask if you're a candidate, the council at its April 25 work session referred to questions they asked for a vacant Ward I seat on Jan. 18, 2016:

  • Tell us about yourself.
  • Explain why you want to serve on the City Council.
  • Describe your qualifications and how they will benefit the city of Casper.
  • Are you willing to run for re-election at the end of the term?
  • Tell us about your availability to serve the time commitments of council meetings and board meetings throughout the week.

To obtain an application, please visit www.casperwy.gov or visit the City Manager’s Office. For questions or more information, contact the office at (307) 235-8224.
