Some tense moments for shoppers at Casper’s Eastridge Mall Tuesday afternoon when fire alarms sounded in the facility. There was no fire, but those inside left the mall as fire crews arrived.

According to a fire official on the scene, the cold weather caused a sprinkler pipe to break, which set off a “flow alarm,” indicating a possible fire. That prompted a response from Casper Fire-EMS, but crews quickly determined there was no danger.

There was no report of any significant damage, but clean-up crews were needed to clear up the water that spilled from the pipe.
