UPDATE: Natrona County Sheriff's Sgt. Aaron Shatto  issued this news release late Friday:

On June 2, 2017, at about 12:10 p.m., the Natrona County Sheriff's Office responded to the area of Bessemer Bend for an armed robbery. A short time later, the suspects vehicle was located in the 6800 block of Sharrock Road. Deputies were alerted the suspect had entered into a family's members home without warning. Family members were asked to exit the residence at which time they complied. The suspect refused to exit the residence and a stand off with deputies began . The Natrona County Sheriff's Office Special Response Team was activated and responded to the scene. After approximately a six hour stand off the suspect was apprehended. 

The Natrona County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the public for assistance and patience in this matter.

The Sheriff's Office has not named the suspect as of Saturday morning.

UPDATE: The suspect is accused of an armed robbery, and then ran to the home of a relative, where he holed up and the standoff with officers began. He was armed with a handgun and did fire shots during the incident. Here is video of Sgt. Aaron Shatto brienfing reporters on the incident.

UPDATE: The standoff is over.  A suspect is in custody. It is unknown whether the person surrendered or officers went into the house.

Suspect is a white male with no shirt, and has just been taken out in handcuffs.

UPDATE: Sirens are now being heard in the area. An armored vehicle and two fire trucks have now been brought to the scene.

UPDATE: Six shots have been heard and police are telling the person in the house to come out.

UPDATE: Officers are using a loudspeaker system to communicate with the person in the house. Reporters are being kept at a distance, but one officer could be heard asking "We just want to be sure you're OK." It isn't clear yet, who is in the home, but it is certain they are armed.

The Natrona County Sheriff's Office Special Response Team has been activated to deal with an ongoing situation in the area of Sharrock Road.

Casper Police believe there is an armed person in a house off Monument Road.

Authorities are now using a loudspeaker to speak to the person in the house.

Authorities are asking people to stay away from Sharrock Road, which is just off Highway 220, west of South Robertson Road.

Sheriff's Sgt. Aaron Shatto declined to say whether anyone has been injured, but he issued this statement:

The Natrona County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating an incident that occurred earlier in the day. The Natrona County Special Response Team has been activated. We are asking the public to please stay away from the area of Sharrock Road until we can resolve the situation. More details will be released as they become available.

Fire and emergency medical services vehicles are on standby in two locations. While it's a county incident, and Casper Police Department and Mills Police Department officers are assisting.

Officers at the perimeter of the scene have rifles out.

Several streets are blocked to the west of a construction zone at the "Y" intersection of Sharrock Road and Riverside. Monument Road is also blocked to the intersection with CY Avenue-Wyoming Highway 220.

An officer at the intersection said he wants to make sure no school buses enter the neighborhood.
