Federal judges in Wyoming recently sentenced seven men for crimes including child pornography, drugs, assault and illegal re-entry of a previously deported alien, according to a news release from the Wyoming U.S. Attorney's Office.

 

U.S. District Court Judge Alan Johnson sentenced Erik Kane Sehnert, 39, of Cody for possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and for carrying a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime. Sehnert received seven years, six months imprisonment, to be followed by three years of probation. Johnson also ordered him to pay a $200 special assessment and restitution in the amount of $1,000. This case was investigated by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

 

U.S. District Court Judge Scott Skavdahl sentenced Emory Christian, 19, of Fort Washakie for assault resulting in serious bodily injury. He received time served, to be followed by two-and-a-half years of probation. Skavdahl also ordered him to pay a $100 and restitution in the amount of $42,573. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

 

Skavdahl sentenced Dale Allen Bennett, 39, of Shoshoni on two counts of distribution of methamphetamine, one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and one count of carrying a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime. Bennett was arrested in Riverton. He received 10 years, 10 months imprisonment, to be followed by five years of probation. The judge also ordered him to pay a $500 fine and a $400 special assessment. This case was investigated by the Riverton Police Department, the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, and the DCI.

 

Skavdahl also sentenced Joshua Arlint, 33, of Helena, Mont., for possession of child pornography. Arlint was arrested in Cheyenne. He received four years, nine months imprisonment, to be followed by 10 years of probation, and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment and restitution in the amount of $2,000. This case was investigated by the DCI's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the FBI.

Skavdahl sentenced James Michael Underwood, 41, of Yakima, Wash., for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Underwood was arrested in Torrington. He received two years, two months imprisonment, to be followed by three years of probation. Skavdahl also ordered him to pay a $100 special assessment. The BATFE investigated this case.

Chief U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Freudenthal sentenced Eric Duff, 38, of Wright for possession of child pornography. Duff was arrested in Cheyenne. He was sentenced to eight months of home confinement, to be followed by five years of probation. Freudenthal also ordered him to pay a $100 special assessment, restitution in the amount of $4,000 and a Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act assessment in the amount of $1,000. This case was investigated by the DCI's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the FBI.

Freudenthal also sentenced Jose Luis Perez-Arias, 31, of Mexico, for illegal re-entry of a previously deported alien into the United States. Perez-Arias was arrested in Rock Springs. He received time served, plus 10 days, was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment and is subject to deportation upon release from custody. This case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
