The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the area between Cheyenne and Laramie for Thursday morning.

The service posted this statement on its website early Thursday:

"A band of moderate to locally heavy snow is setting up along the I-80 corridor between Laramie and Cheyenne early this morning. This activity may produce several inches of snow through mid-morning, resulting in icy/snow covered roads and very low visibilities at times. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 9 AM MST. If you are venturing out this morning, please check the latest WYDOT road conditions by visiting or dialing 511. Drive carefully, and allow plenty of extra time to reach your destination."
