Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack blasted those who want to weaken the school nutrition standards that are mandating healthier lunches for students.

On a nationwide conference call with reporters, he said there are a lot of myths floating around about the program.

Vilsack said this is a generational change and that is hard for many to accept.

He pointed out that 21% of the annual medical spending in this country involves obesity.

Vilsack urged Congress to leave the standards alone and reject any sort of waiver program.
