Former Casper College theater instructor Tom Empey will return to Casper and Casper College to co-teach “Shakespeare’s Jacobean Plays” with Patrick Amelotte, English instructor beginning Monday, March 17.

The course will mark the fourth time that the two have co-taught a class.  Empeysaid,

“I enjoy teaching Shakespeare with Patrick so much, that I agreed to do this one last time,”

According to Amelotte, the eight-week course worth three credits will explore four plays written after King James I ascended the throne of England: “Measure for Measure,” “King Lear,” “Macbeth,” and “The Winter’s Tale.”

Mr Amelotte noted,

“The course is aimed at engaging student interest and increasing their appreciation of Shakespeare’s late plays, The class will also include a study of films of performances of the above plays and two others written during the Jacobean years. In addition, the course will examine and respond to interpretations of actors, directors, and literary critics in order to arrive at a more complete understanding of the Jacobean plays, both as literature and performance,”

“Shakespeare’s Jacobean Plays” (ENGL/HUMN 2490 – Topics) will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and will include a lab that can be taken on either Saturdays from 4 to 7 p.m. or on Sundays from 7 to 10 p.m.For more information or to register contact Casper College at 307-268-2100 or at caspercollege.edu.
