For the 1st time in 23 years, the Casper College men's basketball team were crowned Region IX champions as they defeated Sheridan 87-74 for their 32nd win of the season. This the 2nd time in as many weeks as the nationally ranked T-Birds have beaten the nationally ranked Generals with Saturdays game at the Golden Dome considerably more difficult than the encounter at the Erickson Gym earlier this month. Casper was led in scoring by Isaac Bonton with 32 points on 11-27 from the field. Wil Layaki was 9-17 from the floor and finished with 23 points. The T-Birds won this game making just 2 out of 11, 3 pointers but also were 17-20 from the free throw line. Casper now advances to the National junior College Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas later this month. The last time the T-Birds made it to Hutchinson was back in 1996, where they finished 12th
