A Casper man is arrested for an assault that took place in front of the Sandbar last month.

Casper Police have made an arrest in the case of a man who was brutally beaten with a pipe in front of the Sandbar.

Twenty-eight-year-old, Arthur Penrod was arrested on Wednesday and charged with aggravated assault for the April twenty-third beating that sent Larry Turner to the Wyoming Medical Center with life-threatening skull fractures.

According to affidavit, Turner and a friend left the Sandbar after having a beer and were immediately confronted by Penrod who stated that they needed to talk.

Witnesses reported to police that Penrod took a swing at Turner as another man came from around the corner of the bar and began repeatedly hitting Turner in the head with a pipe.

The unidentified man and Penrod continued beating Turner and his friend until a female witness screamed for someone to call 911.

Penrod and the other male then ran to a vehicle parked behind Dsasumo's Restaurant and drove away.

In police interviews, Penrod refused to cooperate stating, "I'm going to get my head cracked open in prison, I don't see how talking to you will help."

Turner has been released from the hospital and Penrod currently awaits his preliminary hearing. The incident remains under investigation with the pipe wielding suspect still at large.
