The Natrona County Sheriff's Office has called off an investigation of two horses that were found injured earlier this week, a spokesman said Friday.

Nobody hurt the horses, Sgt. Aaron Shatto said.

"The sheriff's office has completed the investigation and we are confident that the injuries to the horses were caused by themselves," Shatto said.

On Wednesday, the office received a report that a horse owner on Arapahoe Road checked on his horses and noticed one horse had an injury to its eye and the other had swelling to its face.

The owner took the horses to a veterinarian who determined that the eye on one horse was too damaged to be saved, while the other horse had three skull fractures.

Both horses are being treated.
