Casper City Council will hold a special regular session Thursday night calling for the resignation of Ward II councilman Craig Hedquist.

Casper mayor Paul Meyer said council will vote on the resignation request based on Hedquist’s perceived violations of the city's ethical code.

“There has been a resolution that’s been brought forward that asks councilman Hedquist to resign, and city council will consider whether this is what they desire,” Meyer said.

Meyer also said that he did not draft the resolution that will be before council on Thursday.

The vote will be in response to a nearly three-hour public hearing that was held on April 30, where council heard mostly negative testimony from city staff about Hedquist's character and ethical behavior.

The meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Casper City Hall. Hedquist is not legally bound to comply if he's asked to resign.

Hedquist was not in attendance for Tuesday's council work session.

As of 2:10 p.m., the city has not yet posted a council agenda nor packet information.
