Powell, Meyer Tabbed as Casper’s New Vice Mayor, Mayor

City councilors in Casper selected new council and city leadership on Tuesday night.

“Council basically did a straw-pull vote, and Charlie Powell will tentatively be our new vice president or vice mayor, and Paul Meyer will be our upcoming mayor,” current Casper mayor Kenyne Schlager said on Tuesday.

Schlager says both Powell and Meyer will be formally appointed to the positions of vice mayor and mayor respectively during council’s Jan. 7 meeting.

Powell, a Ward II councilor, beat Ward III councilor Steve Cathey for the position of vice mayor.

Meyer, a Ward II councilor and Casper’s current vice mayor, defeated Ward I’s Daniel Sandoval for mayor.
