An assault has left a Casper man behind bars.
Twenty-one year old Nicholas Amacher faces one charge of strangulation, and a charge of assault and battery.

Investigators say several times last week, Amacher hit and choked his girlfriend, and kept her from leaving  his apartment.

Prosecutors also claim Amacher threatened to kill the woman.

When interviewed by police, Amacher admitting to being in a fight.

He is being held on fifty-thousand dollars bond awaiting trial and could be sentenced up to ten years in prison if convicted.

He also faces another strangulation charge from an unrelated June incident.
