The feature match-up in 4A from Friday was top-ranked Thunder Basin hosting 3rd ranked Natrona. After a weather delay, things finally got going in Gillette and Natrona came out with some energy with quarterback Harrison Taubert ran it in from 5 yards out and that put the Mustangs on top 7-0 in the first quarter.

NC kept the momentum up in the 2nd quarter as Taubert tossed a TD pass to Roman Overstreet to increase the lead to 14-0. The Mustangs followed that up with a safety sac king Thunder Basin quarterback Mason Hamilton in the end zone to bump the lead to 16.

The 2nd half was an entirely different deal. Thunder Basin got their act together in the 3rd quarter starting with special teams as Isiah Halliburton had 90-yard kickoff return so that energized the Bolts cutting the gap to 13-7

Thunder Basin followed that up with a 1 yard run for a Td from Jaxon Pikula. The extra point was missed and Natrona’s lead was down to 3.

The Bolts took the lead in the 4th quarter as Pikula had a 25-yard touchdown gallop in the last 4 minutes to make it 20-16 and that’s the way it stayed. Thunder Basin is 6-0 with 4 point win over Natrona and the Bolts have wins so far this season over Sheridan and Cheyenne East.  Thunder Basin will play Rock Springs this week. NC sits at 4-2 and will take on Kelly Walsh on Friday in the annual Oil Bowl
