Casper College erroneously sent a message at 7:56 p.m. Thursday that there was an active shooter on campus, according to its alert system.

The college quickly retracted that announcement

"The previous message was sent in error and occurred during a training session for the CC Alert System. We are sorry for the inconvenience," according to a follow-up message at few minutes later.

K2 Radio News has reached out to the college's campus safety and security coordinator for comment.
