Casper Police are warning residents about some unique counterfeit bills that have been showing up around the city. Detective John Hatcher says over the last few months, the Casper Police Department has been receiving reports about counterfeit currency with Asian writing. The bills have been passed at different establishments around town and are likely "practice notes" said to be used in China to train bank tellers and shopkeepers in handling U.S. paper money.

Detective Hatcher says the Asian writing is in pink, and appears on both the front and back of the currency. He especially cautions business owners to make sure their employees are aware of this currency and to check for the Asian writing.

If you know who is responsible for bringing this currency into our community, or have information about any other crime, please call the Crime Stoppers Tip line at 307-577-TIPS (8477) or use the TipSubmit Mobile app, which is free for your mobile advice. You can also use the Crimestoppers website or send a text to CRIMES. Just start your message with "Casper", leave a space and then type your tip. You will remain completely anonymous and may earn a reward of up to $1,000.00.
