The city of Casper has hired a consultant that will take a closer look at multiple buildings within the city’s downtown area.

Casper City Council entered into a $15,000 agreement with a company called Preservation Solutions LLC on Tuesday.

The company will be tasked with surveying and completing Wyoming Historic Architecture forms for 80 buildings within downtown area and city’s Old Yellowstone District urban renewal area.

City officials say the consultant may also make future survey suggestions and recommendations for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.

The city will pay for the consultant through a $7,000 grant for downtown and an $8,000 grant for the Old Yellowstone District. Both grants come from the State Historic Preservation Office.
