School starts Monday, August 19th, in Natrona County, and that means a lot of young students and motor vehicles will be in the area of school buildings.

Casper Police say there will be extra patrol out and about near schools, enforcing school speeding zones.

Jadee Kroeger with the Casper Police Department says officers are trying to enforce safety, but drivers also have to be on the lookout themselves for anything unexpected.

"There's going to be kids going to school, that are not used to crossing at the proper places, and all that kind of stuff and so we're asking everybody to keep an eye out on the kids, they might be darting out between parked cars."

Anyone given a speeding ticket inside a school zone will pay double the amount of a regular ticket.

Kroeger says officers ended up writing about 1,700 tickets last school year.
