Casper Police Investigate Report Of Counterfeit Cash
Another scam has made its way into Casper for the eclipse weekend.
About 2:15 p.m. today, Casper Police investigated a report of someone trying to cash three counterfeit $100 bills at a downtown business, a spokesman for the Natrona County Emergency Management office said.
"Police are advising anyone handling money to make sure the cash is real by using a counterfeit marking pen and look for the hologram that's included in all U.S. currency," Jeff Goetz said in a news release.
Earlier today, the City of Casper cautioned hotels in the area that guests at one hotel reported receiving calls in their rooms, supposedly from the front desk asking for credit card information.
Hotels will not contact guests via telephone requesting credit card information for any reason. Guests should not give such information over the phone and contact the front desk if they receive calls like this.
