Casper Councilman Scott Miller Withdraws From Race
Casper City Council member Scott Miller has withdrawn from the election to represent west Casper, according to a letter to the Natrona County Clerk.
"I have a career opportunity that conflicts with my commitment to serving Ward 2 in Casper," Miller wrote last week. "While it is an inopportune time, I feel it's best I withdraw before the election next Tuesday."
Council appointed Miller in September 2015 to replace Craig Hedquist, who resigned in July 2015. One of the conditions to being named to the council was that he run for re-election.
He wrote that he will serve his term through Jan. 5.
His name will still be on the ballot, but his withdrawal means voters in Ward 2 will select two of three candidates instead of selecting two of four candidates in the nonpartisan contest.
The three remaining candidates are incumbent Charlie Powell, and Darin Crowell and Todd Murphy.
