Casper College will have a new vice president leading its academic programs starting in July.

R. Tim Wright, Ph.D. was selected as vice president for academic affairs by a search committee composed mainly of faculty from throughout the college. Some 80 applications from throughout the country were reviewed.Casper College President Walter Nolte, Ph.D said,

“I believe that the large number of applicants we had for this position is a testament to the quality of work we do for our students,

Wright is currently vice president of academic affairs at Sampson Community College in Clinton, N.C., a position he has held since 2010. Wright began Sampson in 1992 as an English instructor until he became division head of arts and sciences at the school.

Wright has both his Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in English and his doctorate in education, all from East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C.

Wright will be taking over for the retiring David Cherry, Ph.D., who has been serving as interim vice president of academic affairs since August, 2011. Cherry has been a Casper College faculty member since 1976.
