Casper City Council authorized an agreement at its meeting Tuesday night to fund an asphalt repair project.

$390,000 will be put toward the repair of asphalt sections damaged by the city’s public utilities department during emergency water line repair and replacement events.

Casper mayor Kenyne Schlager says it's critical for the city to properly maintain its infrastructure.

“It’s a goal of council to keep all of our infrastructure updated and maintained,” Schlager said. “If you let something go, then it’s going to cost you so much more down the road to bring it back up to the way you want it to be.”

Council approved the resolution 8-0. One member, Ward II councilman Charlie Powell, was absent from Tuesday’s meeting.
