An employee of the Natrona County Weed and Pest District was injured when his all-terrain vehicle flipped near Government Bridge on Thursday, a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper said.

The crash temporarily closed Wyoming Highway 220, too.

The employee, whose name was not released, was riding east on an ATV with a tank of chemicals and crossed Government Bridge, Trooper Brandon Morton said.

After he crossed the bridge, he drove the ATV into a ditch to resume spraying, Morton said.

But the ATV hit a bent delineator post, causing it to flip over several times and throwing the driver, he said, citing a witness. The crash caused the chemicals to spill on the highway.

Morton did not have details about his injuries.

He would not identify the employee's hometown other than to say he was from Wyoming.

No other vehicles were involved and no citations were issued, Morton said.

Patrol spokesman Sgt. David Wagener said the Patrol received the report of the crash at 10:59 a.m.

Authorities blocked the highway in both directions at 11:21 a.m. so a Life Flight helicopter could land and take the victim to the Wyoming Medical Center, who is a 31-year-old male, Wagener said. The highway was reopened at 12:04 p.m.
