RANCHESTER, Wyo. (AP) — Bighorn National Forest officials say they are investigating two small fires in the northern Bighorn Mountains they believe were human-caused.

One fire has burned about four acres in a remote area 10 miles northwest of Ranchester. Firefighters are watching the fire but aren't planning to fight it for now.

The other fire has burned about an acre 14 miles west of Parkman. Forest officials say the Ranchester Volunteer Fire Department and Forest Service firefighters are trying to contain that fire because it is burning in dry vegetation near private land.

Firefighters are getting help from cold nights and the local forecast calls for snow by this weekend.
