Wyoming Woman Arrested for DUI After Head-on Crash
A Wyoming woman was arrested Monday evening after she allegedly drove while intoxicated and was involved in a head-on crash in Sublette County.
Shalena Powell, 32, of Boulder, Wyoming, was booked into jail on charges of driving while under the influence, careless driving, open container and no insurance, according to a statement from the Sublette County Sheriff's Office.
That agency and the Wyoming Highway Patrol responded to the crash south of Boulder near mile marker 85 on Highway 191 shortly before 8 p.m.
First responders found a commercial truck blocking a single lane of travel. An SUV had ended up in the right-of-way near the highway.
The truck driver was evaluated by EMS and cleared with no reported injuries.
Powell's vehicle was damaged to the extent that she was unable to exit on her own. She was extracted from the SUV and evaluated by EMS, but refused medical treatment, the sheriff's office says.
Powell allegedly admitted that she consumed alcohol, and reportedly behaved as though she was intoxicated. She was arrested.
The highway was closed for roughly two hours Monday.
The crash is being investigated by the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
