A Wyoming resident died Thursday when his vehicle overturned on Interstate 90 east of Sundance.

Thomas E. Pickerd, 60, was not wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene, according to Wyoming Highway Patrol Sgt. Jeremy Beck.

Pickerd was eastbound on I-90 Thursday afternoon when, at roughly 3 p.m., his 1995 Ford Ranger exited the left side of the roadway. Authorities don't know why the pickup went off the side of the road, but they do know that the vehicle was overcorrected to the right and overturned.

Driver fatigue is being investigated as a possible contributing factor in the crash.

Pickerd is the 124th person to die on Wyoming's highways in 2019. At this point last year, 88 people had perished in crashes compared to 109 deaths in 2017 and 94 fatalities by this time in 2016.
