Some young and future journalists were in Casper learning the tricks of the trade.
The annual Wyoming High School Student Press Association Convention is an event to help educate those that are thinking about going into a media related future.

Besides being judged on their school newspaper and year-book, students such as Tawnee Moore of Casper, learned from some of the pros, on how to improve her skills on such things as how to take a better picture.

Tawnee Moore: "It's more than just clicking a button. You have to time things and you have to try and get every aspect of it together. There's different pieces that have to go together to make a picture. I'm more into the photography aspect of it, just because that's what I did last year and that's what I'm doing this year."

Abbey Grey of Casper is considering a future in print media..and she says it's not as easy as it looks.

Abbey Grey: "People kind of think we just write a couple of things and throw it together, but it takes a lot of planning as to the design and the layout and what we want to put in the paper, and deciding what people want to read, so it definitely takes a lot of thought and you have to be really committed to it."

Later this year, students will compete for a scholarship award for journalism appreciation, and for high school journalist of the year.
